The FastPoint stylus is comfortable to hold, has a pleasant feel and can be sterilized by
using a steam/pressure autoclave. Tests show that these styli are capable of sustaining, without
damage, over 15 cycles in a steam/pressure autoclave with a cycle time of 45 minutes, a pressure of 15 to 30 PSI and a temperature of 250 to
270 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the typical environment in which dental tools are sterilized.
FastPoint touchscreens are intended
to be used with your fingers for selecting items on the screen, but in dental applications some selection areas on the screen are fairly small.
The FastPoint stylus has been designed to solve this need. The stylus also solves the need to have a sterilized method of interaction with the
screen.
The FastPoint stylus is made of Delrin, a moderately soft plastic material that we recommend using on the screen when a stylus is needed.
This material has properties that keep users from damaging the touch layer on the screen. In addition to this, the stylus has a tip that
is made with a controlled radius. This radius is also optimized for touchscreen use and will not damage the screen. Finally, the Delrin material
does not readily hold moisture and retain contaminants.
